Enlightenment and European Values
I wonder how far Europe lives up to the Enlightenment ideas posited in this article. Does Germany, for instance, still have its racist citizenship laws, whereby someone born there can be denied citizenship?

European civilization has been fundamentally on the wrong track since the Enlightenment
I would say rather that Western Civilisation lost the plot when Greek thought in the Eastern Mediterranean gave way first to Christian and then to Muslim dogma. The Enlightenment was like an awakening from the long opium-induced sleep of Religion - it was a throwing off of dogma. I find it strange that anyone could take the view that what preceded the Enlightenment (such as the Inquisition) was more desirable than what followed it. It is the difference between fog and clarity.
