I totally agree with you,Mrs. Margolina!
You are quite right about the Ukraine and Galicja problem, I totally agree with you Mrs. Margolina! Mr. Wagner, whom I pay high respect for, knows this problem in Rumania - the western and "mid-European parts - Transylvania and the Banat - are different from the eastern part (Moldavia) although the same language is spoken, in some way similar to the difference between Croatia/Slovenia and Serbia/Mentenegro/Macedonia/Bosnia; so I would expect from him to see the also Ukrainian specific of Galicia (also the Bukowina, Wolhynia, etc).

A lot more comments on the original Wagner article
Quote:
Wagner's article resonated with many people, but I have not seen anybody actually agree with him. I think for us the real issue is finding the European interest: would it be better for the EU if Ukraine joined us?
I put up Wagner's provocative article for debate on a Central European blog with a different perspective: what is the European interest with Ukraine's membership or the lack of it.

A lot of other related blogs took up the issue.

Many of the comment come from people with Ukrainian origin. I think the comments strongly support Ms Margolina's suspicion about the romantic image of Ukraine's identity in the Western World.
